Managers and Instructors
Donna Jones, Manager and Lead Instructor
Donna D. Jones, also known as "Miss Donna", has been in the horse industry for over 18 years.
She has owned and managed three equine facilities in the Lowcountry. She has shown Registered Quarter Horses and Paints. Five of those years she pursued an interest in
breeding Skipper W line-bred stock.
Donna's APHA registered stallion "Easy Print", better known as "Sparky", produced eight quality foals. Her "Skipper W" line-bred AQHA mare "Skips Shy Chita" has produced three foals with the most recent one "Dual's Chitalena" being of superior quality.
Her experience showing in Halter, Western Pleasure, and English Pleasure, and a love of educating new horse owners led her to many years of training and teaching. She has taught clinics, summer camps, 4-H, Girl Scout badge classes, and Graymour Pony Club. Donna is currently enjoying "just being a barn manager and lead instructor" of Graymour Stables.
Currently, Donna Jones manages and teaches at Graymour Stables, teaching private lessons, Graymour's Homeschool Horsemanship classes, and other educational classes. She also teaches english and western pleasure and equitation, horsemanship, halter, showmanship, and theraputic lessons.
Risa Matteo, Assistant Manager and Instructor
Risa Matteo has been around horses for as long as she can remember, and has over 15 years
of experience working professionally in showing and training. She has taught in clinics, classes and and groups all over the east coast, and over the years has been involved
in horse rescue, theraputic lessons and competitive eventing ranging from the laid-back world of western pleasure to the subdued english hunter/jumper arena.
Risa Matteo currently owns two horses, one of which was rescued and trained by her from a farm who had neither the time nor the money to feed him. Weighing only 700 lbs. when he was rescued, through many years of patient training and care, Risa's "Ricki Rickardo" now wins both awards and the affection of all who meet him.
In addition to eventing and private lessons, Risa Matteo is also one of the leaders of the Graymour 4-H group, which gives children ages 5-21 the opportunity to participate in various activities with farm livestock and be involved in community service and local shows and events. She also works as a high school science teacher, with a Master's degree in biology.
Currently, Risa Matteo helps manage and teach at Graymour Stables, teaching private "flat" and jumping lessons. She also teaches english and western pleasure and equitation, halter, showmanship, and theraputic lessons.
