Graymour Stables Mission Statement
Graymour Stables’s mission is to educate, inform, instruct, and produce the best horseman and horsewoman on the ground as well as in the saddle and to instill the practice of safety for human and horse while having great fun with one of God’s most magnificent creatures.
Graymour Stables has been in business for over 24 years. Starting in Ladson, SC as a co-op barn, the two original purposes of Graymour was to utilize pastureland with livestock for an older couple who only wished to see horses out of their back window. The co-op horse owners & friends grazed their horses there sharing the responsibilities and care for the horses.
After 12 years, Donna Jones came into the picture and began offering riding lessons at Graymour. Followers of Donna, who owned horses themselves, started boarding their horses there and thus a business began. Word of mouth was the only advertising for years. The boarding business grew and grew, and the lesson program continued to grow.
Donna’s vision is to offer experienced horse care for boarders and quality riding lessons for all ages all at an affordable price. Teaching, coaching, instructing, and training is what Donna is all about. She loves sharing her experiences with horses and her knowledge of horses with students. Children are the future of the horse industry and they must be educated and trained so that they can continue to keep the horse business alive in South Carolina.
Graymour Pony Club, Graymour 4-H Horse Club, and Graymour Homeschool Horsemanship Class are three programs that Donna has offered and still offers today. There was even a Graymour Adult Pony Club after many requests were made.
2013 is the year everything turned upside down for Graymour Stables. With the loss of a great man, (who was the landlord of the Ladson property) also came the loss of a lease after 24 years. The saying “God never closes one door without opening another” came completely true during this trying time. Property outside of Summerville was literally dropped into Donna’s hands after many prayers answered. The entire business was moved in a matter of less than 3 weeks and business continued as usual. Donna is blessed to have the friends and clients that are her barn family at Graymour. Everyone pitched in to help in every way possible. And due to their overwhelming generosity and support, Graymour still continues to grow.
